Trying CBD for the first time to help with anxiety
What is CBD?
CBD also know as Cannabidiol is what is extracted from cannabis plants. Hemp and Marijuana both come from cannabis plants.
This form of CBD (Cannabidiol) is legal here in the UK unlike THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) which is not and is the substance which makes you high.
CBD is something that I have heard about quite a lot over the last 2-3 years, but have never tried it before. I have heard that CBD can be very beneficial to help with chronic panic, cancer and illnesses and more recently I have also read that it can help with poor sleep, acne, heart problems, stress and anxiety.
The Love CBD products I have received are:
- DUTCH CBD CAPSULES (400mg CBD & CBDa) – 80 capsules
- BALM Cannabis-Infused Balm (100mg CBD) – 10g
- DUTCH CBD OIL (300mg CBD & CBDa) – 20ml
The Dutch CBD range are grown on farms in the Netherlands and are free from fertilisers, pesticides and harmful chemicals.
The Love CBD Dutch range also contains CBDa, which is the raw form of CBD.
LOVE CBD – DUTCH CBD Capsules
I received the DUTCH CBD CAPSULES first at the beginning of April 2019 along with the Balm. The capsules look like a pill coated with light blue and white and smell natural like hemp. I took these once a day across 2-3 days after first receiving them and then had rather bad anxiety the following evening, however my hormones were rather up in the air as I had just come on my period.
I left off the capsules for a day or 2 and then started to feel a bit better again and began re-taking them again at the weekend. I have been using the capsules each day now for around the past 12 days and have mainly been consuming 1 capsule a day and occasionally 2 capsules a day.
The recommendations on the side of the container state to ‘take 1 capsule daily for the first 3 days. If needed, slowly build to 3 capsules taken 3 times per day, spread evenly throughout the day’. These are best taken with food.
What are the DUTCH CBD Capsules made up of?
These are a container of 400mg CBD & CBDa, with 5MG CBD/BDA per capsule and contains:
- coconut oil
- cannabis extract
- vegetable capsule.
So far my opinion on the capsules is that I feel that they may help me slightly, however it is currently quite hard to tell as I have also not been increasing my intake much as of yet.
What is the cost of the CBD capsules?
The container of 80 capsules – 400mg CBD & CBDa costs £18.99.
LOVE CBD – BALM
The LOVE CBD BALM came together in the same parcel along with the DUTCH CBD CAPSULES.
The balm comes in a little cardboard box and within the box is the balm in a snazzy glass jar with a wooden/bamboo look lid.
This is a multi-purpose body balm for the skin and contains the extract of hand-harvested cannabis flowers. It is taken from cannabis grown in Slovenia where it is sunny.
- Cannabis Sativa L.
- Cocos Nucifen (Coconut) Oil
- Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter
- Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter
- Vitus Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil
- Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosmary) Oil
- Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Oil
- Beta Caryophyllene
There are a number of benefits the balm can help with such as strained or stiff muscles, arthritis, joints and skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
For me personally as I have long nails, despite me loving the look of the small jar, I find it quite difficult to use the balm and would prefer a squeeze bottle.
The balm has a lovely aroma and smells natural and sweet with hints of hemp and shea butter. The colour of the balm is a green colour and it is very moist and a small amount goes far.
I get rather dry hands in the colder months and feel this can be rather beneficial for my skin to help keep it moist and to prevent my hands from getting so dry and sore. I am also keen to see how this can help my family with eczema, arthritis and muscle pain.
How much is the CBD Balm?
The balm comes in various sizes:
- 10g jar – Which is the one I have & the price for this is £14.99.
- 30g jar
- 100g jar
LOVE CBD – DUTCH CBD OIL
The DUTCH CBD OIL was accidentally left off the first delivery, so I received this a week after the capsules and balm.
This was the product I was most looking forward to trying out! Being that this has a strength of 300mg, I believe this is quite weak and is more of a beginner level CBD. I had only heard of CBD’s coming in percentages before e.g. such as 5%.
As this was my first time trying CBD oil, I was happy to start off with a weaker dosage to begin with and then always increase the intake of this and see how I get on.
What is the best way to take the CBD Oil Spray?
It is best to shake the spray bottle of CBD Oil first and then squirt it under your tongue, as this allows it to go straight through to our bloodstream.
What were my first impressions of the Dutch CBD Oil?
I gave the spray a good shake before use and applied the first spray under my tongue, I thought that it tasted quite strong and I would describe the taste like a peppery oil with a hemp twang.
The oil was rather dark in colour and very green and I like the fact that it is a spray bottle, as it makes it easy to use.
As with the DUTCH CBD CAPSULES, the oil spray is also CBD & CBDa.
The Oil spray contains:
- Cannabis Extract
- Olive Oil
I am very pleased to see this is 100% natural and has just the 2 ingredients!
How much does the CBD capsules cost me?
These cost £23.99 for the 80 capsules of 400mg CBD & CBDa with 5mg CBD/CBDa per capsule.
My thoughts on the Dutch CBD range
Overall I think the LOVE CBD DUTCH range looks great and are easy to use, I am particularly pleased to see that the ingredients are simple and natural with minimal ingredients and the cannabis is grown with no fertilisers or pesticides in the Netherlands.
Additionally, I hadn’t heard of CBDa before and I find it very interesting that this is the raw form of CBD which definitely sounds a plus! I have read that CBDa is known as Cannabidiolic Acid and CBD (Cannabidiol) is formed after the cannabis plant is cut, dried and heated. Therefore, I think it is great to know this range does contain the raw CBD as well.
I will be increasing my intake of both the capsules and spray to see if I notice a difference, however I do feel that a stronger strength will work a lot better and I would see the effects a lot quicker.
With my delivery I also received a leaflet which I feel is super informative and a really great idea to send out to customers! It also states on the back of the leaflet to get in contact if you would like to discuss your order, which makes you feel reassured and comfortable with the company.
Another benefit to the products are that they are vegan!
What could be of interest: LOVE CBD also sell an ‘Entourage’ range as well which have a higher dosage.
