I was brought up eating a poultry diet, which means I ate chicken, turkey, duck, fish and seafood as well as vegetarian options but NO RED MEAT.
Healthier food alternatives have always interested me and I have always loved eating lemons, chilli peppers, spicy foods, vegetables and salad.
I have always preferred fish over chicken as chicken personally wasn’t something I enjoyed to really eat. I found chicken to be quite dry and tasteless, but fish and seafood to be more interesting as well as a safer option.
When I moved out to Vienna I was often provided with chicken from my mother-in-law.
I started to get really bored and fed up of eating chicken and additionally felt that it was quite unnecessary and unfair for me to be eating the poor chickens which I didn’t even enjoy eating.
That is when I decided to give up eating chicken after going through a stage of sharing a whole chicken some evenings with my husband (fiancé at the time). I dropped the chicken out of my diet and became a pescatarian.
I have now been eating a pescatarian diet for around 5 years and feel a lot better that I have do not eat any mammals.
I have a great interest in eating a vegetarian/vegan diet and I do try to eat as many meat free options as I can.
I no longer buy milk to drink or have in teas or coffees or with my breakfast, but instead I buy milk alternatives.
To me milk has a nasty aftertaste and there are so many milk alternatives out there now with plenty of brands to choose from, I much prefer drinking milk alternatives such as almond milk or oat milk.
I often buy milk alternatives such as:
- Rude Health – Almond Milk
- Oatly – Oat Milk
- Innocent – Hazelnut Milk
My favourite type of evening dessert would be dark chocolate with around at least 85% cocoa. I do not like milk chocolate; I find it really sickly and sugary. However I definitely have a slight addiction to dark chocolate.
I tend not to buy foods with refined sugars, maltodextrin, dextrin, sucralose or E-numbers as they are not good for us to consume and can lead to all sorts of health issues in the long run.
Generally speaking I do really enjoy eating salads, fruit and vegetables and feeding my body with the vitamins and nutrients it needs.
